Local Members of Cobra’s Taekwondo Medal at the Toronto Open
Cobra’s Taekwondo Training Centre sent 4 athletes to this years Toronto Open held at Variety Village Athletic Centre on November 12 and 13.
The Toronto Open is the biggest and most well attended tournament in Ontario. It drew teams from all across Ontario and Quebec. There were also teams from Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Chicago, New Jersey, Florida, New York as well some teams from over seas.
Candace Dunn placed bronze in the 13 – 14 years old green belt/blue stripe division. Oceana Doxtator and Katlyn Doxtator moved out of their division and up to the black belt 13 – 14 years old. Oceana placed silver in the heavy weight division and Katlyn bronze in the light weight.
Jewelian Blackbird (12 years old) placed silver in the 11- 12 years olds black belt division. Jewelian also competed in the 13 – 14 years old black belt heavy weight division placing bronze.
Alyssa Blackbird, one of Cobra’s top athletes was recovering from an MCL tear and did not compete at this event.
