Pain Court Tops Standings Entering Senior Basketball Playoffs
Pain Court enters the Senior Girls A basketball playoffs as the top ranked team with a perfect 6-0 record. The first place Pain Court Patriotes will face the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in the first semi-final next Tuesday, while the Ridgetown Royals will play the Blenheim Bobcats.
This week in their final regular season games, Emily Pepper poured in 17-points for Pain Court as they defeated the Blenheim Bobcats 52-34. Paige Johnston was dynamic for the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in their season finale win over the Ridgetown Royals. Johnston scored 26-points as the Cardinals defeated Ridgetown 54-36.
In the Junior Girls A Basketball loop, a strange turn of fate saw the Blenheim Bobcats drop from first to last in the league standings. Blenheim discovered they’d played the majority of the season with an inelligable player, and were forced to forfeit any game this athlete played in dropping their record form 9-1 to 1-9. Chatham Christian took over as the Junior Girls regular season leader by defeating Ridgetown 30-16 Tuesday night to end with a 9-1 record.
Blenheim will now play the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in a quarterfinal to regain their on court dominance. Pain Court plays Tilbury in the other quarterfinal, while Ridgetown and Chatham Christian received byes through to the semis. All games take place next week across Chatham-Kent.
