After starring for the Chatham Maroons last season, Patrick Watling, a Sault Ste. Marie product is applying his skills at the next level with the OHL’s Guelph Storm.

Originally drafted by the Storm in 2009 in the 10th round, Watling lead the Chatham Maroons in scoring last season notching 25 goals and 50 assists, for 70 points in only 49 games. Watling represented the Maroons in the 2011 GOJHL Prospects Game, and was a Western Conference First Team All-Star.

Watling started practicing with the Guelph Storm last season after the Chatham Maroons were eliminated by Strathroy in game 6 of the opening GOJHL playoff round.

This season, Watling has 2 goals and 7 assists to open the season with the Guelph Storm, and is a +1. Although his numbers aren’t the same as they were in Chatham, the first year OHL player is getting regular ice and has not missed a game with the Storm this season.
