Photo of the Week: WDSS Tartans Win the SWOSSAA Football Final

In place of a column, we’re again going with a photo of the week. A picture is worth a thousand words, so the expressions on the faces of the nearly 30 athletes on the field with the Wallaceburg Tartans senior football team is a novel of emotions.

With a perfect season behind them, Wallaceburg’s first Kent Championship in more than a decade, and first SWOSSAA championship in school history, last Thursday was an important day for the Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans. There is no Shaun Suisham in the photo above, who played for the last Tartans team to win a senior Kent football championship, but the team, which could be the best in Wallaceburg’s history, is riddled with stars.

Just look at the picture. That is a moment that will last forever in the hearts and memories of not only the players on the field, but of many fans and family members in the community of Wallaceburg.
