St. Clair Saints Lose Two at Health Plex to Conestoga
Friday night the new St. Clair Health Plex in Chatham was on display with a pair of OCAA volleyball games featuring the St. Clair Saints and the Conestoga Condors.
Conestoga took both matches 3 games to 1 over the “hometown” St. Clair Saints. Although both the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball programs are currently operated out of St. Clair’s Windsor campus, as are all varsity sports, there has been discussion recently to found a new varsity program located at the St. Clair College Chatham campus, following the construction of the Health Plex.
Friday’s games were a homecoming of sorts for two local athletes. The women’s volleyball team features Samantha Buekhert, a Tilbury District High School graduate, who is taking her second crack at college volleyball. Beukhert originally played at Mohawk College before returning home for family reasons, but is now making strong contributions to the St. Clair Saints team.
On the men’s squad, Blenheim’s Robert Vandersluis has been a regular on the court for the Saints. The 6’4″ middle has 9 kills and 10 points on the season.
The men’s team ahs struggled early this season with an 0-5 record, while the women’s St. Clair Saints team has opened their season 2-3.
will they play again at the Health Plex. Would love to make plans to see them
