Chatham’s Jason Missiaen has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for December 5-11.

Missiaen, who plays for the Greenville Road Warriors, who also feature Dresden’s Wes Cunningham, had a save percentage of .986 and a goals against average of only 0.50 in 2 games played, both wins.

Friday, Missiaen recorded his first career professional shutout during a 3-0 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays.

Missiaen is an ECHL rookie after finishing his Major Junior career last season. Missiaen played in the QMJHL for the Baie-Comeau Drakker, and in the OHL with the Peterborough Petes. Following the conclusion of his Junior season last year, Missiaen signed a professional tryout with the Connecticut Whale, however failed to make the AHL this season.

Missiaen is currently the property of the New York Rangers after signing a contract following last season. He was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens.
