With the first snowfall of December, came an even slipperier slope for the Wallaceburg Lakers as their losing streak hit 8 games. Wallaceburg was handed another loss by the Essex 73s, 7-2 Tuesday night on the road.

Corey Beaulieu who recently returned to the 73s lineup was a dominant force on the ice scoring twice in the first period, while adding two assists in the second.

After Beaulieu scored twive to start the game, Jeff Nolfo, who has been Wallaceburg main source of offense during this losing streak, got the Lakers on the board with only 20 seconds remaining in the first.

Brian Hamlin and Zach Miletic quieted any comeback hopes the Lakers might have as they scored to open the second period extending Essex’ lead to 4-1. Mike Myers answered for Wallaceburg, but less than a minute later, Tyler Pope-Ferguson picked up his third point of the game, scoring from Beaulieu and Hamlin. Hamlin also had a four point performance.

After killing off a 4 minute penalty taken by Joe Daly, his third stick infraction of the game, the Lakers allowed two quick goals from Chad Hedrick and Jordan Brohman to push the score to 7-2, the way the game would end.

The Wallaceburg Lakers, as they have several times this season were playing with a greatly shortened bench dressing only 13 skaters.

Wallaceburg welcomes Belle River to town Wednesday at 7:30pm.
