Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from CKSN
It’s a slow time of year for sports, but a great time of year to spend with friends and family. I wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a fantastic New Year.
Sports news will be slow this week as the schedule is light, but we’ll have stories for you when they happen. If you’re looking for snow this Christmas…take a drive to your nearest arena. Otherwise, relax, have a glass of egg nog, exchange some gifts, watch the World Junior Hockey Championships, some basketball, or a NCAA bowl game.
It was a great year of sports, one which CKSN will begin recapping tomorrow as we look at the highest highs and lowest lows in Chatham-Kent sports from 2011. We have so much to be thankful for locally, which is something we often overlook. Although we might struggle to pay for our kids to play sports, and our enrollment is shrinking, we still have facilities and opportunities that better many places in the world.
Sports aren’t the be all and end all, but when you give a soccer ball, hockey stick, or ball glove as a present, remember you’re giving the gift of fun, and health for our kids. More importantly you’re opening doors for youth to learn valuable lessons and make lifelong friends.
Take care, be safe, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.
