Six Gold for Blenheim Blast Swimmers at Nothers Fall Invitational

Ten members of the Blenheim Blast Swim Team travelled to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in London for the Nothers Fall Invitational last weekend, swimming away 15 medals: 6 gold,5 silver and 4 bronze.

15 Year old Shania Van Herk led the charge winning gold in both the Women’s 15 year old 100 Free (1:00.55) and 200 Fly (2:38.68), and swam to second place finishes in the 50 Back (34.29) and 100 Back

(1:10.81). Shania also qualified for finals placing 4th in the 50 Fly (32.9) and 200 Free (2:23.54) and finished 8th in the 50 Breast (43.17). Riley Johnson swam to gold in the Women’s 15 year old 100 Back (1:10.64), silver in the 100 Fly (1:12.14) and completed her 200 Free in eighth place. 10 year old Grace Hansen won Gold in the girls 10 & under 50 Fly in a time of 41.76 seconds, and had one other top ten finish in the 100 Breast (1:14.71). Mackenzie Desbiens had three top ten finishes in the 13 year old girl’s age category, finishing eighth in the 50 Breast (43.85), ninth in the 50 Back (38.74) and tenth in the 50 Fly (36.49)

18 year old Justine Van Herk swam away with Gold in the Women’s 16 & over 50 Back (31.88), silver in the 100 Free (1:00.73) and bronze in the 50 Fly (31.35). Justine competed in two other Finals placing fifth in the 100 Breast (1:22.47) and seventh in the 50 Breast (40.85) Rain Pfaff won silver in the 12 year old 50 Back (35.80), and swam to fourth place in the 200 Back (2:47.44). Rain also finished in sixth place in the 200 IM, and eighth place in the 400 IM.

12 year old Brendan Van Herk won gold in the boys 12 year old 50 Fly (34.09), silver in the 100 Free (1:08.52), and had two other top eight finishes placing forth in the 400 IM (5:54.92) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:50.40). River Pfaff swam away with two bronze medals in the men’s 14 year old 50 Back (34.75) and 50 Breast (37.95). River also had four other top ten finishes, placing fifth in the 50 Fly (32.43), sixth in the 400 Free, seventh in the 100 Free (1:05.74) and eighth in the 100 Breast (1:21.29). The team will travel to Sarnia this Sunday December 4 for the next S.E.A.L. Meet.
