Michael Verboom provided the only offence for the Chatham Maroons as they lost 4-2 to the Sarnia Legionnaires in front of more than 1,300 fans in Sarnia.

Thomas Moxley scored the only first period goal to give the Legionnaires a 1-0 lead.

Opening the second period, Evan Dixon scored again for Sarnia, before Verboom closed the gap with his first of the game assisted by Brennan Feasey and Ben Pataki.

Still in the second, Sarnia’s Jason Teschke and Justice Dundas scored to put the Legionnaires ahead 4-1. Before the period was out, Verboom scored his second of the game, assisted by Steven Szekesy and Feasey; however, the Maroons would not be able to hit the scoresheet again falling 4-2 to Sarnia.

With the loss, the Chatham Maroons remain 2-points behind the St. Marys Lincolns, and 1-point ahead of the Strathroy Rockets in the GOJHL Western Conference standings. Chatham hosts St. Marys this Sunday at Memorial Arena in a game that will have serious implication in the league standings.
