Bantam Kent County Fillies Golden in Woodstock
Friday, the Kent Fillies won their first game 2-1 over Ingersoll. Adrianna Long opened the scoring for Kent County, while the winning goal came with just 4 minutes left in the game from Lauren Stefina. Stefina and Miah St. Pierre picked up assists in the game with Stefina receiving game MVP honours.
Saturday morning in their second game, the Bantam Kent Fillies suffered a 3-1 loss against a very strong Lucan team, with a well deserving game MVP going to Adrianna Long. The Fillies only goal in the game came from Long, with an assist from Karleigh Murphy.
Saturday evening the Fillies got back on track winning their third game with a 1-0 shutout against Ilderton. Lauren Stefina scored the Fillies only goal with just 2:28 left in the game, and goalie Kelsey Dorssers earned game MVP after picking up the shutout.
Sunday morning the Bantam Fillies met up with host Woodstock in the semi-final. It was a hard fought game with the Fillies eventually advancing to the final with a 2-1 overtime victory. Rachael Cameron tied up the score at 1-1 with only 1:46 left in regulation time, and Olivia Henry got the OT goal for the win. Henry was named the game MVP for her heroics.
Meeting Lucan again in the final, the only team the Fillies had lost to in the tournament, the team pulled off a 2-1 win to grab the gold medal. Adrianna Long scored the first goal, with Miah St. Pierre scoring the winning goal. St. Pierre was handed MVP honours for her gold medal winning goal.
