Dane Fox Scores for the Otters, Ranked 14th Among OHL Skaters for NHL Draft
With a change of scenery, Thamesville’s Dane Fox is also getting recognition of his skill recently as he has been ranked 14th among OHL skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau for this years NHL draft in their initial draft rankings.
Fox told CKSN earlier this season that although the NHL draft is on his mind, it isn’t his main focus, “The more you think about that the more it’s going to get to you,” Fox said. “I just try to go out there and have fun, play the game, do my best to impress my coaches and the scouts… but I’m just out there to get the two points at the end of the game.”
Moving from first place London, to last place Erie, getting those coveted two points will be all the more difficult, however; the change of scenery will allow Fox to play more of a central offensive role.
The top ranked OHL players for the upcoming NHL draft are a pair of injured Sarnia Sting stars, Nail Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk, while Fox’s former London Knights teammates Olli Matta and Andreas Athanasiou came in at number 3 and 6 on the OHL list respectively. Erie does not have another skater on the list.
In his Erie Otters debut against the Sarnia Sting, Fox was held pointless as the Otters were shutout 4-0.
In his second game with the Erie Otters, a 6-4 loss to the Kitchener Rangers, Fox had a goal and an assist, his first points with Erie.
