Innes Leads Landslide in Blenheim
Wallaceburg’s Mike Myers opened the scoring early in the first period before Taylor Phillips and Brooks Shepley put the Blades ahead. Joe Allison would score for Wallaceburg to tie the game 2-2, but before the period was out Thomas Innes scored his first of three goals in the game, which turned out to be the eventual game winner.
In the second period, Neven Wiebenga scored twice, while Tyler Clarke, Jordan Regier, and Innes also scored for the Blenheim Blades.
After a Shawn Lubbers high sticking 5-minute major midway through the third period, Innes and Clarke scored on the powerplay before Brooks Shepley scored his second of the game to cap off the 11-2 win for Blenheim.
Innes, Clarke and Wiebenga all padded their stats by picking up four points each, while Aiden Wiebenga, Matt Speed, and Ben Campbell all had three assists.
The two teams face each other again Wednesday night at 7:30pm at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. The win put Blenheim back atop the Great Lakes Junior C North Division standings, one point ahead of the Mooretown Flags and Alvinston Flyers, with one game in hand on each team.
