Three Chatham Maroons showed their skills at Monday’s GOJHL  Prospects Game in Lasalle. Steven Szekezy and Michael Verboom both hit the score sheet, while goaltender Hunter Johnson was strong between the pipes leading the Western Conference Prospects to a win over the Midwestern Conference.

Michael Verboom scored a goal and added an assist for the Western Conference team as they defeated the Midwestern Prospects 9-6. Defenseman Steven Szekesy had an assist on a second period goal by Scott Prier, who plays for the Lasalle Vipers.

Chatham Maroons goaltender Hunter Johnson was awarded the win in net making 14 saves on 18 shots for the Western Conference.

Last season, Verboom and Johnson were integral in the success of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Midget AAA program, while Szekesy played for the Windsor Spitfires Major Midget AAA team.

Verboom currently sits second on the Maroons in scoring with 15 goals and 25 assists, for 40 points in 38 games. Szekesy is the leading scoring defenseman on the Chatham Maroons collecting 25 points in 39 games, while Hunter Johnson has been a rock in net for the Maroons carrying their starting goaltender duties.
