Minor Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones Enjoy 4-Point Weekend
The Minor Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones brought home 4-points after winning both of their games this past weekend.
Saturday the 7th, the Minor Bantams would travel east down the 401 for a weekend in Kitchener and Waterloo. First on the agenda was the Kitchener Jr Rangers.
Nick Delyzer was not tired from the drive but perhaps a little restless as he would score on his first two shifts of the game putting the Chatham-Kent Cyclones up by two in the first. Assists would go to Ross Krieger, Ben Nicholls, Brandon Brower and Brendan Harrogate. Luke Van Rycheghem would add another for the Cyclones in the second from Nicholls and Brower. The Jr Rangers would make it close with two of their own in the third but that is as close as they would get with the game ending 3-2.
Sunday afternoon would bring on a match against the Waterloo Wolves which the Cyclones also won 3-2. Ross Krieger would open up the scoring in the game from Kyle Fife. Waterloo would add one of their own in the first and another in the second to go up by one going into the third. Staying focused and showing there resiliancy the Chatham-Kent Cyclones kept the pressure on in the third until Lucas Vanroboys, an apprentice player, tied up the game on a nice feed from Harrogate and Delyzer.
With the Cyclones shorthanded for the last two minutes of the game it appeared the game would end in a tie; however, with a late faceoff in the Waterloo end, Blair Derynck fought off the other center to get the puck back to the point and allow Nicholls to get a shot off that was tipped by Kyle Dawson to win the game with 14 seconds left.
