Minor Bantam Chatham-Kent Cyclones Win Three
The Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Bantams had a strong weekend winning all three games they played. The Bantams would start the weekend off with a Friday night tilt in Windsor. Playing in the bowl at the WFCU where the Windsor Spitfires play would be a treat for both the players and parents.
The Cyclones got off to a quick start in the first with two goals from Brendon Harrogate. Harrogate would add a third to start the second before Windsor would find the board late in the second on a powerplay. Harrogate would top the night off with an empty netter to clinch a 4-1 win. Assist went to Kyle Fife, Phillip Clarke and Levi Tetrault.
Saturday would see the Chatham-Kent Cylcones at home for the first game in a while against the Kitchener Jr Rangers. Kitchener opened the scoring in the first to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Early in the second, Levi Tetrault would bulge the twine on the powerplay from Blair Derynck and Kyle Fife. Kitchener answered back a couple minutes later to restore the one goal lead. Blair Derynck and Kyle Dawson each added goals on a good late shift in the second putting the Cyclones ahead. Late in the game Dawson scored an insurance goal in the third to seal a 4-2 win. Assists on the last three goals went to Dawson, Phillip Clarke and Nick Delyzer.
Sunday would find the Minor Bantam Cyclones back at the friendly confines of Memorial Arena against the Sun County Panthers. Both teams were held scoreless until the second period when Ben Nichols scored from the point on the powerplay from Dawson and Ross Krieger. Harrogate would add another in the second on an individual effort and Nick Delyzer scored in the third from Fife and Derynck to complete the 3-0 shutout.
