Short Staffed Lakers Sink Sharks in Wheatley
With only 14 skaters, the Wallaceburg Lakers were able to defeat the Wheatley Sharks 4-2 on the road.
Troy Babcock opened the scoring for the Lakers in the first period on the powerplay. The goal was assisted by Jordan Durston and Robert Towesly Wheatley would bounce back to tie the goal on a goal by Jordan Carnevale.
Things didn’t look good for the Wallaceburg Lakers in the second period as Wheatley got on the board less than a minute into the frame with Trevor Grieve potting a goal on the powerplay.
Wallaceburg would take over the game after Wheatley took the lead scoring three unanswered goals to secure the win.
Mike Myers started things off for Wallaceburg scoring on the powerplay, before fellow hometown product Lucais Meyskens scored the game winning goal.
With only seconds remaining on the clock, Justin Whitson would add an insurance goal.
Devin Cove made 32 saves in the win and also picked up an assist. Wallaceburg welcomes Alvinston to town Wednesday evening.
