Thamesville’s Dane Fox traded from London to Erie
Thamesville native Dane Fox is on the move, after being acquired by the Erie Otters.
The London Knights shipped the 18-year-old forward to the Otters, in a five-player deal, plus draft picks.
Fox has scored 13 goals and recorded 32 points in 34 games with London so far this year.
With the possibility of being selected in the upcoming NHL draft, Fox told the Chatham-Kent Sports Network recently, that this does cross his mind.
“The more you think about that the more it’s going to get to you,” Fox said. “I just try to go out there and have fun, play the game, do my best to impress my coaches and the scouts… but I’m just out there to get the two points at the end of the game.”
Fox leaves a Knights team that sits first in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League with a 28-8-0-1 record, to an Erie squad sitting in dead last in the West, with a 5-30-1-1 record.
In parts of three season with the Knights, Fox has netted 25 goals and 65 points for the Knights in 111 games. Most recently, Fox scored in the Knights 6-1 win on Thursday (Jan. 4) against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Otters also receive defenceman Troy Donnay in the deal, along with the Sudbury Wolves’ second-round pick in the 2012 draft and London’s second-round pick in 2016.
London gets centre and Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick Greg McKegg, defenceman Brett Cook and goalie Tyson Teichmann.
