Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame Announces 31st Annual Inductees

Rob MacLachlan, Coach of the WDSS Tartans Football Team

The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame will be hosting their 31st annual induction ceremony this January 28 at the Oaks Inn Cookhouse in Wallaceburg.

Being inducted in the annual category are Beth Fischer and Rob MacLachlan as coaches, in the builder category, the Wallaceburg Kraft Celebration Tour planning committee will be inducted. In the outstanding achievement, athletes Justine Decock, Jonah Pataki, and Lee Purnell.

In the permanent induction categories, Mike Hinnegan will enter as male athlete, Jackie Hogan will enter as the female athlete. The builder this year will be Harold Ribson, and team is the 1980-1981 Wallaceburg Hornets Oldtimers.

In the masters classic, Johnny Floin is being inducted, while the Honourary Chair this year will be Bill McCarthy.

Kim Murray, a member of the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame induction committee had this to say about this year’s Honourary Chair,

“Bill has really been an influential part of sports in Wallaceburg for the last 50 years.”

The special guest of the night will be former NHL player Brad May, who is best known for his enforcer days with the Buffalo Sabres.
