Blades Continue to Roll, Play in Tilbury Tonight

The Blenheim Blades extended their winning streak to three games Friday night as they sunk the Wheatley Sharks 5-1.

Late season addition Justin Rossignol of Ridgetown, had a goal and an assist, while Zach Mailloux scored twice to lead the Blades in the win. Rossignol opened the scoring shorthanded in the first period. Wheatley quickly answered back as Sebastian Kanally scored the Sharks’ first and only goal of the game.

Tyler Clarke opened the scoring in the second for Blenheim with assists going to Rossignol and Neven Wiebenga. Wiebenga, an overage defenseman, who had 3 assists in the game, now has 13-points in his last 4 games.

Mailloux and Thomas Innes would add to Blenheim’s lead in the second period sending the Blades to the third period up 4-1. Mailloux scored his second of the game in the third to lift Blenheim to the 5-1 win.

Dylan Vanderpol showed why he is Blenheim’s number one goaltender making 39-saves to pick up the win, while former Chatham Maroons starter Connor MacKinnon suffered the loss for Wheatley.

Blenheim will finish their season Saturday night in a rare game played in Tilbury. Puck drops in Tilbury at 8:00pm against the Belle River Canadiens.
