Hunninck Wins Gold With Brock Badgers at Las Vegas Rugby 7s Tournament
With snow covering the ground in Chatham-Kent, local rugby player Elizabeth Hunninck captured gold with the University of Brock Badgers at the Las Vegas Rugby 7s Tournament.
On the official Brock Badgers website, head coach Peter Hughes described what the accomplishment means for the University’s rugby program, “This was an amazing accomplishment for our girl’s as well as our program as a whole. We will continue to work hard in the spring and summer months in preparation for the 2012 OUA regular season in September.”
Hunninck was a force for the Brock Badgers team scoring 3 tries in the tournament.
In the six game tournament, the Badgers went a perfect 6-0, including a 19-7 win over Stanford University in the gold medal final.
In total in the tournament, the Badgers outscored their opponents 133-31.
Hunninck plays summer rugby with the Kent Havoc Rugby football club in Chatham-Kent.
