Let The Andy Fantuz Rumour Mill Spin

With only days left until Saskatchewan Roughriders slotback, and Chatham, Ontario product Andy Fantuz hits the CFL open market, the rumour mill is beginning to spin.

Most reports currently have Fantuz leaving Saskatchewan, with rumours of Edmonton, as well as other CFL locations. One of those team’s, as previously reported on CKSN, is the Toronto Argonauts.

Fantuz, one of the most coveted free agents on the CFL market this summer, is said to want to return to Ontario to be closer to home, which would also mean that Hamilton will undoubtedly be in play when Fantuz officially becomes a free agent on February 15. In fact, the Hamilton Spectator reported Friday that the Ti-Cats might attack Fantuz when he hits the open market later this week.

Despite the rumours spinning regarding a future CFL home for Fantuz, one variable remains, the NFL.

Last summer, Fantuz had contract offers from at least 5 NFL teams before choosing the Chicago Bears, who later cut the star receiver. This offseason, Fantuz reportedly worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and with so much interest last summer, Fantuz will undoubtedly be looked at by a number of NFL clubs looking to add depth at receiver.
