Maroons Fighting For Playoff Lives
After defeating the London Nationals Sunday at home to stay in the hunt for the 8th and final playoff spot, the Maroons postseason hopes took a major hit Thursday with a loss in Sarnia; however, the Maroons still remain tied for the last playoff position.
The first place Sarnia Legionnaires handed Chatham a 6-2 loss, leaving the Maroons hanging onto their playoff hopes by a thread.
Sarnia opened the game with goals from Derek D’Andrea and Nathan Mater, before Brennan Feasey and Eric Palazzolo responded to tie the game 2-2 after the first period. Unfortunately for the Chatham Maroons, these first period goals would be the only offense the Maroons would generate.
Steve Farlow scored the only goal in the second period to put the Legionnaires up 3-2, before Sarnia exploded for 3-more goals in the third.
Daniel Nikandrov, Jason Teschke, and Steve Farlow scored for Sarnia in the third period, including two empty net goals.
Chatham has only three games remaining in the season, facing St. Marys, Leamington, and LaSalle to finish the season.
