Three Wins for DeKoning in Napanee

Chatham native Brett DeKoning and his rink out of Omeemee, Ontario are 3-4 at the M&M Canadian Junior Curling Championships.

Brett along with his teammates, third Jason Whitehill of Peterborough, second Scott Dow of Fergus and lead Brett Spier of Omemee have picked up wins over PEI, Newfoundland, and the North-West Territories.

They have 5 games remaining in the round robin. Team Alberta leads the competition at 6-0.

DeKoning still has high spirits about the competition, “I live in Chatham but it’s great to have fans here to support us, our club being only an hour away. We like to have fun on the ice. We really didn’t know what to expect. We’re just trying to stay loose, win a couple of games and have fun. It’s just good to have support behind us, it’s great to have the crowd into the game.”

Their next game is tonight at 7:30pm versus Team New Brunswick.
