Wallaceburg Grabs Second Straight LSSAA Swim Crown
For the second consecutive season, the Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans swim team captured the LSSAA Woman’s Team Championship, LSSAA Men’s Team Championship and the overall LSSAA Team Championship.
All 40 members of the team did the Tartans proud showing much improvement and personal bests.
Individual gold winners from Wallaceburg included Shane Rowley in Sr. 200m Freestyle, Jordyn Davis in Jr. 50m Freestyle, Izzy Loosemore in Para 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke, Hollie Root in Para 100m Freestyle, Jack Cavanagh in Sr. 50m Butterfly, David Metayer in Jr. 50m Breast Stroke and 100m Individual Medley.
Cavanagh is the reigning OFSAA gold medalist in his event.
In the relay’s, Wallaceburg also collected first places finishes in the 200m Medley Relay in the Open Girls and Sr Boys division, 200m Sr Boys Free Relay, and 400m Open Boys and Girls Free Relay.
The team sends 13 individual swimmers and an outstanding 10 relay teams on to SWOSSAA at the Sherk Centre in Leamington on February 23.
No other Chatham-Kent swimmers participated in the meet.
