Windsor Lancers Advance to OUA Hockey Finals

Chatham’s Brett Vandehogen and his University of Windsor Lancers have advanced to the Ontario University Athletics hockey finals, winning a semi-final series against Lakehead University over the weekend.

Lakehead won the opening round of the best-of-three series, 3-2  on Feb. 22, but the Lancers roared  back, winning a pair of games in Thunder Bay to take the series.  Brett picked up two assists in a 4-1 win on Feb. 24 and came back the next night with two more assists, including a helper on the overtime goal as the Lancers won, 3-2.

The Lancers now meet the Western  Mustangs in the OUA finals, which open on Feb. 29.

The Lady Lancers weren’t as lucky in their best-of-three semi-final series as they lost to Wilfred Laurier, 3-1, on Feb. 26.  Chatham’s Ally Strickland picked up an assist in the losing effort. Ally had four goals and eight assists in her freshman season.

Another Chatham resident, Hokey Langan, ended her junior season with the Ohio State Buckeyes over the weekend as her team dropped a pair of games to the University of Minnesota – Duluth.   Hokey ended up with eight goals and 13 assists in 35 games for the Buckeyes.
