The Blenheim & District Minor Hockey Association Midgets are off to the OMHA final after eliminating Hanover in the semi-finals.
After defeating Hanover 3-1 in game one, Blenheim continued their dominance Saturday night in Hanover, winning 5-2.
Cam Aitken, who played a handful of Junior C games this season with the Blenheim Blades, opened the scoring for Blenheim. Aaron Pastorius scored in the second for Blenheim, who were paced each time by Hanover who fought to keep the score tied 2-2 heading into the third period.
As the third period opened, Blenheim came out firing, with captain Dylan Smith scoring two goals to put Blenheim up 4-2, before Cam Aitken scored his second of the game to lift the road team to a 5-2 win.
With another win Sunday in Hanover, Blenheim would move on to the OMHA ‘CC’ Midget finals. Coming off a four game suspension, Dusty Dietrich wasted no time getting the Blenheim Midgets on the board in game three scoring two first period goals.
Cam Aitken and Kirk McKillop scored for Blenheim in the second, to put the visiting squad up 4-0, before Hanover would score their only goal early in the third to break Justin Pratt’s shutout.
The final buzzer sounded with the scoreboard reading 4-1 in Blenheim’s favour, sending the team to the OMHA ‘CC’ final against Tavistock. The final schedule has yet to be finalized.
