In Colorado, from the mountains to their sports teams, it seems you need to go big or go home. For Wallaceburg Lacrosse grad Sean Pollock, that’s exactly what he’s doing as a member of the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth.

After being traded from his long time Minnesota Swarm team, Pollock has been reborn in Colorado, climbing into the top ranks of scorers in the league,

“It is just great to be able to play the way I have in the past and be counted on as a player that can contribute to the team and help he a part of the team success,” said Pollock about his early success in Colorado. “I am just happy to be a part of the Mammoth organization.”

Undoubtedly, the feeling is mutual as Pollock has collected 10 goals, 24 assists and 34 points in only 8 games this season. Pollock has already surpassed his season totals from last season when he scored 9 goals and 18 assists for 27 points in 16 games with the Minnesota Swarm.

The move to a new franchise however didn’t come without uncertainty for Pollock,

“I was really nervous going into training camp but from the time I landed in Denver everyone welcomed me in and made me feel really comfortable,” explained Pollock about the transition to Colorado.

“The Mammoth organization is great and has made me feel at home from day one. Our team has become one of the closer teams I have been a part of in my career and I think that has played a big part in our early success.”

Success is definitely in the forecast for the Colorado Mammoth who sit atop the NLL with a 7-1 record, with the next nearest team holding a record of 5-3. When asked about the success of the Mammoth this season, Pollock said a few things jump to mind,

“A few things, Consistancy, Confidence, Focus. We have had all these things in our game this year. We never doubt things when times are tough and we never look a head. I still think we haven’t played our best game yet. We can be a lot better then how we have played so far this year and that is the exciting part. It is also a treat to play with John Grant Jr. I looked up to JR when I was a younger player and he is just amazing to play with. He does thing that I cant even dream of trying.”

With so much personal and team success already this season, Pollock received a special treat last weekend when a bus load of Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse, and local fans made the trip to see him and fellow former Wallaceburg Red Devils goalie Tye Belanger, who also plays for the Colorado Mammoth, take on the Buffalo Bandits in Buffalo,

“It was also great to see the group of people from around Wallaceburg that made the trip down to Buffalo to watch the game this past weekend and support Tye and myself. Things like that really do mean a lot to us and we appreciate all the support we receive from home.”

Pollock and his Colorado Mammoth will start the second half of their season against the last place Washington Stealth this Saturday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
