Wallaceburg’s Erin Sarapnickas had a stellar weekend of basketball with the Windsor Valiants. The Valiants, who play in the Provincial JUEL Basketball League, won one and lost two over the weekend, with Sarapnickas leading the team in scoring in two of the games.

In their only win of the weekend, which came against Hamilton Transway 68-59, Sarapnickas, who is a student at Wallaceburg District Secondary School, scored 19-points. Sarapnickas went 5-for-7 from beyond the three point arc in the game, and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

“It was a frightening display of three point shooting,” said Windsor Valiants Head Coach Paul Levac about Sarapnickas’ performance, “especially from the perspective of those attempting to defend her.”

In a 66-48 loss to the Brampton Warriors, Sarapnickas scored a team high 10-points.

According to Levac, it was players like Sarapnickas who stepped up that made the losing weekend a success,

“Although we finished 1-2, the weekend was very successful,” said Levac. “We will continue to work on the defensive side of the ball and we will have to break down the offensive side and do a little more work as well. Some individuals stepped up this weekend to demonstrate that we will be a very strong team going into the remainder of the season.”

The other Windsor loss was a narrow 47-42 game against the North Toronto Huskies.

The next JUEL Weekend is March 24 -25 at the University of Windsor. The Windsor Valiants will play the Northern Lights at 10:00 am and the Advantage Titans at 5:00 pm. On Sunday at 2:00 the Valiants host the Oakville Venom. No Admission is charged for the games.
