Wallaceburg Icon, Sports Hall of Famer Chip Gordon Dies at 65

Wallaceburg’s Chip Gordon, an advocate, former councillor, and long time sports supporter, has died at age 65.

Gordon was inducted into the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 in the Coach/Official category, as he was a long time hockey coach in the community of Wallaceburg.

Gordon is survived by his wife of 40-years, Darlene, children Heather and Donny, and three grandchildren.

Chip, who’s given name was Donald, passed away March 2 surrounded by family at Sydenham Campus in Wallaceburg.

Gordon was the long time chair for Wallaceburg’s famed WAMBO, and served as a councillor for Wallaceburg for nine years, as well as serving with several other community groups and committees.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be set out.
