Weekend Skating Results From Blenheim

From the Chatham Skating Club

The Chatham Skating Club saw 30 of its’ skaters compete this past weekend, March 3rd & 4th, at the 2012 Futures – West Invitational Skating Competition, held in Blenheim.

Chatham brought home: 11- Gold, 5-Silver and 4-Bronze Medals. Many of the competitors were competing for the first time in their young skating careers.

In Starskate Preliminary Ladies, Hannah Ross skated away with the Gold Medal. During the second flight at the same event, Jessica Rummery took home the Silver Medal and Brianna LaChance was the Bronze Medal recipient.

During Starskate Pre-Preliminary Ladies, Olivia Hunter and Brooke MacLeod each stood centre podium with their Gold Medals during their respective flights. Amanda Couture placed 4th during the second flight.

While at the WO Preliminary ‘A’ Ltd. events; Mackenzie Faubert and Elyse Gregory captured the the Gold Medals, Ashley Hudson was 5th and Alexis Van Ballegooyen placed 6th, all in their own respective flights.

In WO Pre-Preliminary Ltd., during the many flights of skaters, Gabrielle Doey, Gabrielle Gooch, Sydney Hart, Rihana Kukkadi and Emily Zimmer all took home the Gold Medals in their individual flights. Emma McGrail was also a medal recipient, bringing home the Bronze Medal in her flight. Amanda Power was 4th, Rebecca O’Phee placed 5th while Lauren Anjema and Yasamin Ahmadzadeh both placed 6th, all in their respective flights.

Joshua Andari captured the Silver Medal and Chase Ireland-Heidt placed 5th during the WO Pre-Preliminary Ltd. Men event.

During the CanSkate flights, many of our first time competitors, took to the ice.

WO CanSkate – Age 6 & Under saw Sophie Humphrey and Angela Markovich both place 4th during their own flights.

At the WO CanSkate – Age 7 events, Sophie Luckhurst was the Bronze Medal recipient.

During WO CanSkate – Age 8 & over – all 4 Chatham participants brought back medals. Sarah Bellan took the Gold, while Masha Bustard, Claudia Jeromel and Daisy Lacina all received the Silver Medals in their respective flights.

CanSkate Men saw Matthew Holdaway take the Bronze Medal during his flight.

Blenheim Figure Skating Club and Kent Region were fortunate to host this year’s 2012 Futures West Invitational Skating Competition at the Blenheim Arena March 3 & 4th. It was a wonderfully successful weekend with help from all of our local clubs. All of our local skaters did a fabulous job. For our younger skaters this is their only chance at competition all year. Their hard work all year certainly paid off. Some of our starskaters were able to compete in their very first competition on home ice! How exciting for them and all of our skaters. Blenheim Skating club received lots of medals; they learned lots of new things about competition and hopefully brought away lots of good memories. We saw lots of smiling faces. We hope you all had fun because that is the most important thing! Every single one of you skated your best and made us very proud of you!

Congratulations to all of our Blenheim skaters who participated in Futures competition March 3 &4. They should be proud. They all skated a personal best!
