For Brad Simpson, his love for racing started years ago watching his uncle race at South Buxton Raceway. Now, the UMP Modified driver is looking to climb the rankings at South Buxton, and to pass his passion for racing along to his three sons.

“My boys love it,” said Simpson who originally hails from Wallaceburg, but now lives in Rodney, “I was going to get out of it, but they wanted me to stay.”

After finishing in 12th place overall in the UMP Modified’s division in his third season at South Buxton Raceway last year, Simpson and his team are hoping to continue to climb the leaderboard this summer after a long winter of work.

“We’re hoping to finish in the top 5 in points, that’s our goal,” explained Simpson. “We’ve rebuilt the motor, pulled everything off the car and have it looking and driving like new.”

Simpson, who drives the 53 car, originally worked on the pit crew for his uncle at South Buxton and said he’s been going to the races since he was 2-years-old, “I grew up with it and loved it.”

“I love the adrenaline rush that comes along with it. Going into the corner side by side, coming out and going for the pass, it really gets your adrenaline pumping.”

It’s that thrill for racing that Simpson got as a child, which has been passed on to his own kids, and that Simpson hopes spectators from across Chatham-Kent, Southwestern Ontario, and Michigan will experience when they visit South Buxton Raceway,

“Expect lots of dirt and mud flying, and a fun filled night of excitement. It’s close, fast racing.”

The South Buxton Raceway season gets underway May 5. The track will also host their annual Mall Show April 13-15 at the Downtown Chatham Centre.

Brad Simpson Racing would also like to thank Scentsy Racing, Peter Wilson, Uncle Charlie, Michelle Mancell, Dennis Thibideau, Jason Walter, Victor O’leary, David McCorkell for all of their help, as well as his wife and three boys for their continued support.
