High Winds and High Scores in High School Soccer
Monday’s high school soccer schedule was filled with high winds and high scores. High winds descended on Chatham-Kent knocking out power to much of the Municipality, stirring up dust storms, and bending soccer balls in every direction.
In the girls loop, the UCC Lancers shutout the Tilbury Titans 5-0. Alex Fiala starred in the game scoring 3-goals in the first half, while also sharing the shutout in net with Alex Ciarma and Jacelle Morrison.
Paige Eddie and Riley Vanderydt scored second half goals for the UCC Lancers to complete their 5-0 victory.
The Lambton-Kent Cardinals and Pain Court Patriotes played to a 1-1 draw in a contest where the coaches noted that “wind played havoc with the game.” Paige Coyne scored the Pain Court goal, while the Dresden scorer was not reported.
On the boys side, Pain Court blasted the LKCS Cardinals 7-2. Andrew Woodall scored 4-goals for the Pain Court Patriotes, who led 7-0 at the half. Avery Speller, Brandon Funk, and Kyle Parry all had goal for Pain Court. Sebastian Smith and Matt McDonal scored Dresden’s goals in the loss.
In the fourth game of the evening, Tilbury handed UCC a 3-1 loss. Jake Hunting scored twice for the Tilbury Titans, while Austin Marontate had the other Titans goal. Kevin McDonald scored the lone UCC Lancers tally.
