The Cement Man Chatham thunder U10 attended the year end tournament in Guelph over the weekend, going in with a 20-0-0 record. Our first game on Friday ended with Chatham defeating Elora-Fergus 4-3. Courtney Legere opened the scoring assisted by Emilie Newman. Camille Blain would pocket a goal assisted by Legere. Legere scored her last goal of the game assisted by Natasha Anderson. Erica Anderson would round out the scoring for Chatham assisted by Lydia Harron.

Game two was against the Dorchester Dragons crushing them 9-0. Leah Thompson opened the scoring assisted by Newman. The following is the scoring summary. Natasha Anderson from her sister Erica, Blain from Erica Anderson, Erica Anderson from Ireland Dasilva, Legere from Erica Anderson, Natasha Anderson from Legere, Erica Anderson unassisted, Natasha Anderson from Newman and Legere, and finally Dasilva from Erica and Natasha Anderson.

Game three saw Chatham s meet the Waterloo Wildfire. We defeated them 8-0. Scoring and assisting were: Blain from Legere, Newman unassisted, Blain from Legere, Legere unassisted, Dasilva unassisted, Natasha Anderson from Legere, Legere from Natasha Anderson, Legere from Blain.

Game four was the second to last game of the season for the Thunder pitting the team against the champion from the East – Guelph. This game would prove to be a barn burner with back and forth scoring. Fans were on the edge of their seats for this game. Final score was 4-4, giving both teams an undefeated status leading up the final game of the season. Scoring goals were: Legere unassisted, Erica Anderson from Thompson, Legere unassisted, Legere from Natasha Anderson.

Sunday’s final would be Chatham’s final game of the season and prove to be the team’s only loss to Guelph with a score of 5-2. Legere pocketed our two goals. Audrey Mackay-Barr was awesome in net for all 5 games, allowing only 12 goals in 5 tournament games. Kylyn Murphy, Delaney George, and Shelby Ritzer played excellent supportive roles all weekend, helping to secure our Silver Medal.

The Chatham Thunder would like to congratulate all teams on an awesome year. Gold went to Guelph, Silver to Chatham and Bronze to Elora-Fergus. Many thanks to the team’s head coach Chris Legere, assistant coaches Mike Deneau, Cory Barr, Neil Anderson and to the team trainers Shauna Thompson and Kim Harron. Most importantly, thanks to all the girls for an outstanding year of growth in skill-set and sportsmanship. Way to go girls.
