The OVA Chatham Ballhawks represented Chatham-Kent at the 2012 Canadian Open Volleyball Nationals. After three days of competition at the biggest tournament in Canada, the Ballhawks walked away with a gold medal in the Division 2 Tier 4 Pool.

On Thursday the first day of the tournament the team went 1-2 in matches against:

Chatham Ballhawks vs Aigles du College Jean-Eudes (Montreal) – Won: 25-9, 23-25, 12-15
Chatham Ballhawks vs Vision Ben (Winnipeg) – Lost: 15-26, 16-25
Chatham Ballhawks vs Markham Stingers (Markham Stouffville) – Lost: 26-24, 25-20

On Friday after being re-pooled the team again went 1-2 in matches against:

Chatham Ballhawks vs Leaside Lightning Red (Toronto) – Lost: 14-25, 19-25
Chatham Ballhawks vs Saskatoon Sol (Saskatoon) – Lost: 16-26, 21-25
Chatham Ballhawks vs Bedford Blizzard (Bedford) – Won: 25-13, 25-14

On Saturday the team was competeing for a gold medal in the Division 2 Tier 4 Pool and went undefeated. The Ballhawks started the day against the Wildcat Volleyball Club (North Bay),winning 23-25, 25-10, 16-14 Chatham lost the first set and were behind in the second but the girls pulled it out to force a third game and then came from behind 14-12 to go on a 4 point run in order to play for the rest of the day.

In the semi-final, Chatham faced CVC Dev (Bathurst, NB) winning 25-17, 26-24, before defeating Les Altises (Caraquet, NB), 25-18, 25-16 to capture the gold medal.
