MPP McNaughton Visits Dresden Raceway
May 21, 2012 – (DRESDEN)- Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton spent a few hours at the track on Sunday but it wasn’t leisure time. McNaughton was on hand to talk with employees, patrons and horse people about the crisis in the racing industry after the McGuinty Liberals announced they are cancelling an agreement with Ontario’s Horse Racing Industry.
McNaughton pledged his support for the horse people and again reiterated that the decision to cancel the agreement with the horse industry would put approximately 60,000 people out of work.
“Horse racing has been a tradition for over 100 years in Dresden. If Dresden loses the track it will not only lose a part of the town’s history but will also lose a significant economic part of the community,” said McNaughton.
On the track Gene Piroski drove three horses to the winner’s circle on the day including Beau Willee, Mapleson and PBNJAM.
Danny Johnson teamed up with owner Larry Pollard and trainer Rod Duford to win with Just Gavins Way and Gavins Designer.
Alex Lilley also had a driving double with Winkys Pride and Full Force.
Kevin Wallis ended the day with a driving double as well as he won the last two races with Six Gun and Noble Seelster.
The fatsest mile of the day was the last race of the day when Wallis drove Noble Seelster to victory in 1:56.1.
The biggest payout of the day was the 2-7-All triactor Combination in the sixth race that paid $986.40.
