Red Devils Edge Pacers For Third Time This Season
Their first two match ups weren’t close, but Monday night in Sarnia the Pacers gave the Wallaceburg Red Devils a serious run for their money.
Despite a late comeback that saw the Pacers pull within one goal in the final seconds of the game, Wallaceburg held off for the 9-8 win.
In the first period, Jordan VanDamme scored a hat trick, while Clint Lamarsh also hit the scoresheet to put the Red Devils up 4-2 after one.
Sarnia pulled closer in the second, but VanDamme, with his fourth of the game, and Jordan Durston kept the Wallaceburg Red Devils ahead 6-5 heading into the third period.
In the first three minutes of the third period, Reid Miller and VanDamme each scored to pad Wallaceburg’s lead, but the Pacers weren’t done, storming back and peppering Red Devils goalie Ryan Schuetzkowski. Midway through the third period, Lamarsh would score the eventual game winner, helping the Red Devils to improve to a remarkable 5-1 record to start the season.
Other Game Notes: Emily VanDamme served as the backup goaltender for the game, making her the first female player to dress in the OLA Junior B League this season. Jordan Durston moved back atop the league scoring chart with a goal and four assists, giving him 41 points in six games this season.
