Chatham’s Andy Fantuz will open the CFL season for the first time tonight in a Hamilton Tiger Cats uniform. Standing at the line of scrimmage, he’ll get to see his usual green and white as he stares across at his competition in his former team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

After leading the CFL in receiving yards with 1,380 and being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2010, Fantuz missed most of last season after trying to crack the Chicago Bears lineup before returning to Saskatchewan, only to be injured a few short games into his season.

Playing his first home game in Southwestern Ontario, Fantuz expects a large crowd of Chatham supporters at his first game Friday night as his Hamilton Tiger Cats take on Saskatchewan.

Not only is this Fantuz’s first regular season game in a Ticats uniform, it is also the last season opener at the historic Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Game time is 7:00pm ET. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and BC Lions also play Friday night with kick off at 10:00pm.
