Dresden product Wes Cunningham has signed a professional contract with Lorenskog IK in Norway’s elite men’s hockey league.

Cunningham played last season with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL, and also saw spot duty in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Last year, his fourth professional season, Cunningham had 2 goals and 28 assists. The year prior while playing with Greenville, Cunningham was an ECHL first team all-star and was the runner up as the league’s top defenseman.

Lorenskog IK finished 2nd in the GET-ligaen in 2011-2012 with a 30-11-3-1 record and were defeated in the championship series by Stavanger.

Cunningham will join a blueline corps that last year included another former Chatham Maroons product and NHLer Andy Delmore, as well as Tommy Jakobsen who is Norway’s most experienced international player.
