Fischer, Goldoni Win Dr. Jack Parry Award
The Dr. Jack Parry Award is presented each spring to a male and female athlete from one of Chatham-Kent’s
ten high schools, who exemplifies athletic and academic abilities, as well as contributions to their school and community.Fischer, has been Wallaceburg’s top athlete for much of her career. She was a star of multiple Kent Championship basketball teams, and was an all-star volleyball, and soccer player for the school as well. During her career at WDSS, Fischer also participated in cross country and badminton.
Next year, Fischer will be competing in OUA basketball after accepting a scholarship to play for the York University Lions.
Goldoni, an OFSAA competitor in tennis, was also a key to his school’s basketball team, which upset the UCC Lancers in the Kent final this season to win the league championship. Goldoni was also the starting quarterback for John McGregor’s senior football team.
Both Fischer and Goldoni were also 90% students, and were highly involved as volunteers in both their school and community.
Along with the honour of the award itself, both student-athletes will also receive a $1000 bursary for their achievements.
Last year, Chatham-Kent Secondary School athletes Kailey Houston and Thomas Bednarik swept the Dr. Jack Parry Awards for their school.
