Ken Gagner Named Alliance Coach of the Year

Chatham’s Ken Gagner has been named the Alliance Hockey coach of the year at the Alliance Annual General Meeting.

Gagner coached the Minor Bantam (1998) Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ team this season, leading his squad to the Alliance final. The Cyclones were defeated by the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs.

The Chatham-Kent Cyclones released a statement about Gagner’s honour, including part of his acceptance speech, in which he stated, “I am happily surprised that I was selected coach of the year, it is certainly an honour and a very proud moment not just for me, my coaching staff, the organization, but more importantly the players on the team.”

Gagner will be remaining with the 1998 age group this coming season as they enter their Major Bantam season.

Last season, his Chatham-Kent Cyclones played to a 30-25-10 record, beating Cambridge and London Gold before being ousted by Elgin-Middlesex in the Alliance Final.

Congratulations Dr. Gagner. I’m positive it was well deserved!
