Red Devils Sweep Weekend Games
After stumbling through the last month, the Wallaceburg Red Devils Junior B lacrosse team couldn’t have asked for a bigger weekend.
“What a massive weekend for the Devils,” said Wallaceburg head coach Jamie Knight.
“I don’t know if Wallaceburg has ever went on a weekend trip to Elora and Orangeville and come home with 2 wins. All 18 guys contributed, guys fighting through pain and injuries and playing their hearts out.”
Clint Lamarsh had a huge weekend for the Red Devils, starting with three goals and two assists Saturday night helping Wallaceburg beat Elora 11-8. Rob Pollock played set up man as he has much of this season, scoring once and adding six assists in the win. Reid Miller also had a hat trick for Wallaceburg.
Dillon Lapointe, Mitch Burton, Nate Carroll and Joel Shepley had the other Wallaceburg goals.
New Red Devils goaltender Brenner Jacobs played spectacular in both games with coach Knight saying he “was huge for us in net making some amazing saves.”
In Sunday’s game against Orangeville, Lamarsh and Pollock again led the charge for the Wallaceburg Red Devils. Lamarsh had four goals and an assist, while Pollock piled up another five assists.
The game in Orangeville was tied until with nine seconds left, Reid Miller fired one by the Orangeville netminder to give Wallaceburg the 9-8 win.
Joel Shepley and Burton each had single goals in the game, while Carroll chipped in with two.
Wallaceburg now has a full week off before they welcome Owen Sound to Wallaceburg Memorial Arena next Sunday, June 10, with a 2:00pm game time.
