Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham is preparing for another season of professional football with the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the NFL team opened their mini-camp this week.

“I feel really good, looking forward to another year, I’m excited about it,” Suisham stated about the upcoming season, which will be his 8th in the NFL.

“When you’re playing professional sports for a living, this time of year for anybody, should be enjoyable and exciting,” said Suisham about starting training camp. “I think why so many people are drawn to sports, you never know exactly how a game or season will turn out.”

Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were ousted from the NFL Wild Card playoff game by the Denver Broncos, one year after making it all the way to Super Bowl XLV, in which they fell short to Green Bay. With recent success in mind, Suisham again think the Pittsburgh Steelers are positioned to perform well,

“When you’re fortunate enough to be on a team like the Steelers, every year you’re going to have a chance and that adds to the excitement.”

Despite struggling statistically last season, Suisham knows he is able to help his team, and that is his focus heading into camp and the regular season,

“The main goal is to be a contributing factor on the team in every game you play, that’s my goal.”
