Wallaceburg Picks Up Two Big Weekend Wins
With playoff positioning on the line, the Wallaceburg Red Devils Junior B Lacrosse team picked up two big weekend wins; first over Windsor on Friday, then Hamilton Saturday. The wins clinched a playoff position for the Red Devils, who now wait to see who they will face in the opening round of the OLA postseason.
Friday in Windsor, Wallaceburg played a tight, back and forth game before squeaking out an 8-7 win. The Red Devils got out to an early lead in the opening period with two goals from Reid Miller and a single from Clint Lamarsh.
In the second, Miller, Brayden Hopkins, and Rob Pollock scored for Wallaceburg to keep the game tied heading into the third period. After Lamarsh scored again, Pollock scored the game winner with less than two minutes to go on the clock.
Saturday at home, the Red Devils easily handled Hamilton 17-7. In a high scoring first period, Rob Pollock scored three of his five goals in the game. Pollock also added five assists for an incredible ten point game.
Reid Miller scored twice, while Clint Lamarsh, Joel Shepley, and Josh Yurchuck also scored for the Wallaceburg Red Devils.
Pollock and Lamarsh each bulged the twine twice in the second, while Miller, Yurchuck, and Mitch Burton also scored. In the third period, the scoring slowed down, but Miller and Lamarsh each managed to score again for Wallaceburg.
The Red Devils will finish their season Tuesday at home against the Sarnia Pacers.
