Pegg, Canada Advance to Olympic Team Final

Former Chatham-Kent gymnast Dominique Pegg who competed in Blenheim until 2003, helped Team Canada advance to the gymnastics team final at the London Summer Olympics.

The accomplishment marked a moment in Canadian gymnastics history as it is the first time the Canadian women’s gymnastics team has advanced to the Olympic final.

Pegg was also the only Canadian to qualify for the all-around individual final as she was ranked 18th after the qualifying round.

Pegg’s best performance of the day came in her floor routine where she scored a 14.233, good for 14th place in the world.

Pegg scored a 14.133 on the vault, 13.725 on the uneven bars, and 13.566 on the vault, totalling 55.657 overall.

The Women’s team final is Tuesday starting at 11:30am, while the women’s individual all-around final takes place Thursday at 11:30am.
