The Devils Wore Red in Game One
The Wallaceburg Red Devils got out to a one game to nothing lead over the London Blue Devils in their series opener in round two of the OLA Junior B playoffs.
After needing five games to oust the Spartans (St. Catherines) only days ago, the Wallaceburg Red Devils continued their trend of close games trailing London with less than 5 minutes to go before Jordan Durston scored a pair of late goals to secure the 10-9 win.
Marcus Lagerstrom scored the only Wallaceburg goal in the first period as the Red Devils fell behind 3-1 to the London Blue Devils.
In the second frame, after allowing another goal, the Red Devils began to show signs of life scoring four straight from Durston, Reid Miller, Rob Pollock, and Jordan VanDamme. After London scored twice more, Durston answered again before the period came to a close.
The third period was a back and forth affair as London scored first, followed by Wallaceburg goals from Pollock and VanDamme. After London scored twice to take the lead, Jordan Durston took over the game and scored two, including the game winner with only two minutes to go on the clock.
Durston finished the game with 4 goals and 2 assists, while Rob Pollock had 2 goals and 5 assists, and Jordan VanDamme had 2 goals and 3 helpers.
Game two of their series takes place Sunday afternoon at 4pm in Wallaceburg. The Red Devils are again asking fans to wear red to create a “sea of red.”
