Bulldog Triathlon Races For Good Cause
The 13th Annual Bulldog Triathlon was held this past weekend at Rondeau Provincial Park. The event, which welcomed over 300 competitors this year, continued to support the YMCA Strong Kids campaign, with a goal of raising $20,000 for the cause.
The main event, a sprint triathlon including a 5km run, 20km bike ride, and 750m swim was won by London’s Neil Fisher in a time of 1:07. The top local finisher was Chatham’s Jeff Thibert, who won his age division of men’s 40-44, while finishing 8th overall. Thibert finished in 1:13:49.
Chatham’s Brynelle Glover was the top finisher in the women’s 20-24 division crossing the finish line in 1:19:13, good for 19th overall. Wallaceburg’s Lauren McTavish won the women’s under 19 division crossing the finish in a time of 1:25:09.
In the sprint duathlon, a 2km run, 20km bike, 5km run, Port Lambton’s Andrew Flanagan crossed the finish line ahead of the pack, winning the overall title in a time of 57:15.
Merlin’s Rene Hartford, and Blenheim’s John Te Sligte topped their divisions finishing in 1:07:59 and 1:10:01 in the women’s 50-54 and men’s 60-64 divisions respectively.
