Canada Wins First Gold in London

Canada has won their first gold medal at the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. Rosie MacLennan of King City, Ontario won Canada’s first gold medal of the Games after finishing atop the trampoline competition Saturday.

MacLennan finished with a final score of 57.305, dominating the standings ahead of a pair of Chinese trampolinists.

Four years ago in Beijing, MacLennan finished 7th.

Another Canadian, Karen Cockburn, missed the podium by 0.090 points finishing 4th in London.

The medal gives Canada 8; 1 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze putting Canada in 11th overall in the medal standings.
