More Medals For Canada
Corunna’s Derek Drouin added another bronze to Canada’s medal count after jumping his way to a three-way third place tie in the high jump competition.
Drouin, who is a three-time NCAA champion competing at Indiana University, missed at 2.33 and tied for the bronze based on a successful jump at 2.29 and the least amount of missed attempts.
Many locals from Wallaceburg, Port Lambton, and Chatham were cheering for Drouin at the London Olympics as he competed at several local meets and lives only minutes from Chatham-Kent in Lambton County.
Adam van Koeverden also added to Canada’s medal count, which now sits at 12, by winning a silver medal in the men’s K-1 1000m event.
van Koeverden, an Oakville, Ontario resident, has won three medals in three previous Olympic Games for Canada.
