Summer Rolls On at South Buxton Raceway
Cottam’s Rob Quick and Leamington’s Joel Dick returned to the Winner’s Circle on Saturday night at South Buxton Raceway, both ending long winless droughts.
For Quick, the famine was much longer.
And both drivers waved the checkered flag from the roofs of their winning cars.
For Quick, the climb took much longer.
“That’s the first time I’ve done that,” said the stocky veteran after carefully climbing down following his first Tirecraft Comp 4 feature win since Aug. 28, 2010.
Dick, meanwhile, won his fourth Schinkels Gourmet Meat UMP Modified feature of the season but his first since June 9.
“It seems like it’s been longer than that,” Dick told the audience, after easily hopping off the roof of his winning car.
Saturday’s other two feature winners – 50-year-old Brad Authier of Chatham in the Glencoe Auto Recyclers UMP Late Models and 51-year-old Steve Shaw of Merlin in the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks – took the more traditional poses with their checkered flags.
Coincidently, Dick and Authier both won features on the same night Quick was last victorious. Shaw was third in his feature that night.
Merlin’s Steve Shaw won the Windride Transportation Sport Stocks feature, while Brad Authier won the Glencoe Auto Recyclers UMP Late Models.
